Yokote Masuda Museum – Golgo13 x 20th Century B. collab cover

In 1995, the city of Yokote in Japan became home to the first manga museum dedicated to genga (原画), the original drawings created by manga artists. In the Yokote Masuda Manga Museum, these works are preserved both physically, in a climate-controlled environment to prevent deterioration, and digitally. With nearly 500.000 original artworks, the museum holds the largest genga collection in Japan.

From March 20 to May 30, 2021, a special exhibition was held to honor Takao Saito (Golgo 13…) and Naoki Urasawa (20th Century Boys…), who had recently donated a significant number of genga to the museum.

To mark the occasion, in addition to a themed café and exclusive postcards, three special variant covers were produced, featuring some of the artists’ most iconic works:

• Golgo 13 x 20th Century Boys
• Yawara!
• Mastermind Fujieda Baian

Visitors who purchased a ticket to the exhibition could choose one of the three covers as a gift.

Though only a few years have passed since the event, all three cover have already become a mirage.

This is arguably the most representative cover of the exhibition, featuring the iconic characters – Golgo 13 on the front, the Boys on the back – on a white background, with faint manga panels subtly layered.
