Weekly Young Jump (週刊ヤングジャンプ) is a Japanese seinen manga magazine published by Shueisha. It was first launched in May 1979 as a biweekly publication and transitioned to a weekly release schedule in 1981.
At the time of its launch, the magazine’s editorial policy focused on the themes of «love (with sex), violence, and liberation from authority». This direction aimed to explore the broader storytelling freedom of a young adult magazine, free from the constraints of traditional shonen manga. It also retained echoes of the foundational principles of Weekly Shonen Jump: “friendship, effort, and victory.”
Like many other seinen magazines, Weekly Young Jump frequently features gravure idols in swimsuits on its covers, as well as many inserts bonus like stickers, posters, and cover variants.
In 2024 Young Jump had a circulation of approximately 253.750 copies per issue. At its peak, it reached 1M+ copies (source: Japanese Magazine Publishers Association – JMPA).
