48H BD

48H BD is a vibrant event dedicated to the world of comics, manga, and graphic novels, held across France and Belgium. Every year, it attracts over 300.000 participants, and in 2024, it celebrates its 12th anniversary!

This initiative was created to promote reading among a wider audience, moving beyond traditional book spaces to reach those who may not have easy access to literature. The goal is to make reading more accessible and engaging for everyone.

The event is organized by an association of 12 publishers, including Akata, Ankama, Auzou, Bayard Jeunesse, Delcourt, Glénat, La Gouttière, Jungle, Mangetsu, Panini Comics, Soleil, and Vents d’Ouest. Together, they orchestrate a nationwide celebration of the “ninth art,” a term often used to describe comics. This collaborative effort involves the entire book industry—from booksellers and librarians to publishers, with a special focus on the authors, who are at the heart of this initiative.

Thanks to the financial support of these 12 publishers, a curated selection of comic books is made available each year at a reduced price of just €3. The selection changes annually, encouraging readers to explore a wide variety of titles.

In essence, 48H BD is a community-driven event that celebrates the rich and diverse world of comics, across all ages and backgrounds.
