Vol.74 – Ogaki cover (Sanoku Thanx)

To celebrate the incredible achievement of 300 million copies sold, a massive campaign was held in many Japanese bookstores, online or local. This paper variant was given as a bonus to those who purchased One Piece volume 74 during the campaign period at Ogaki bookstores (also available at Imai and Kobunkan)

The campaign is universally acknowledged as “Sanoku Thanx” which literally means «300 million thanks». “San” (三) is three, while “Oku” (億) is the kanji for one hundred million. In addition Shueisha created a special advertising campaign that ran in almost every major newspaper and also in the New York Times and China Daily. All 47 prefectures of Japan were given their own unique One Piece ad, featuring characters from the manga alongside local products and specialties that represent each region.

The most common amongst Sanoku Thanx covers. Identical to vol.74 – Takeshima cover, the only difference is the position of the bookstore logo (check last picture).
