Vol.17 – Kentaro Miura tribute variant

Volume 17 tribute cover variant released as an appendix of the magazine Anteprima n.396, August 2024. Bundled together with Berserk vol.42

“What goes around comes around…” sings Justin Timberlake, well that’s exactly what happened with this cover. Originally released in 2011 in the magazine Anteprima, it has been re-released 13 years later, once again in Anteprima. This time, though, with a different numbering (issue #17 instead of #1) and a few tiny aesthetic changes.

I have to admit, I kinda like the circularity of it all, especially since variant covers in Italian magazines are rarer than a unicorn sighting. I also appreciate the idea of commemorating Kentaro Miura’s passing with a “tribute cover” (as if we didn’t get enough of those right after he passed). But let’s be honest: two variants of the same series… with the same artwork… might be a tad too much.
