«A manga big enough for Eren in Titan form to read…»

That was the absurd starting point behind one of Kodansha’s wildest PR stunts ever. In March 2021, just a month before the series’ final chapter, the editorial team decided to go colossal… quite literally.

And so was born the manga that currently holds the Guinness World Record for the largest comic book ever published. Standing 1 meter tall, weighing over 13 kilograms, and limited to just 100 copies, it was priced at a jaw-dropping 165.000 yen (around $1.100) and still sold out in under two minutes. Content-wise, it’s a partial reproduction of volume 1 of the manga, but with only two chapters instead of the usual four, for a total of 96 pages.

Given the average size of Japanese homes, some buyers probably regretted it later. But despite being a purely promotional stunt, it remains an official release; a collector’s treasure that’s as fascinating as it is impossible to shelve.

Perfect for fans who live by the motto: the bigger, the better!
