Naruto Project New Era – Lawson variant episode 699

The Naruto New Era Opening Project was a special project to celebrate the series’ 15th anniversary and prepare the ground for Boruto who would arrive only 2 years later. In 2014 and 2015, Naruto-themed activities, such as exhibitions, stage plays, a new movie, and special events, were organized in Japan, including a promotional campaign in Lawson convenience chain stores.

By purchasing specific products with the Ponta card (a sort of Japanese cashback point card)  you could enter a special lottery and win a set of 2 Naruto covers.  Like Yin & Yang they featured stunning full-art illustrations directly taken by the corresponding chapter (chapter  699). On the negative side, these covers were made with atrocious material (never touched a worse plastic, I swear).

The winners received both, episode 699 + Naruto&Sasuke bundled together.

One of the lowest circulation ever for a variant. Incredibly rare, if some copies have reached Europe it is only because Japanese collectors hate these kinds of “tissue” covers and consider them B-tier.
