Vol.1 – Shonen Champion double variant

Volume 1 cover variant released as an appendix of the magazine Weekly Shonen Champion n.27, June 2020.

It is, in every sense, a double-sided variant: depending on which side is displayed, it can be used as the cover for

• Makai no Shuyaku wa Wareware da! #1
• Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun #17 (black and white vers.)

This stands out as a fascinating editorial case. To celebrate the launch of the new Iruma-kun spin-off, created in collaboration with the Youtuber group We Are the Main Characters of ○○!, Weekly Shonen Champion included a reversible cover as a free bonus for two consecutive issues.

The concept played on visual cross-references between the two series, with the variants re-illustrated to show each series’ protagonists striking poses originally associated with the other.
