To celebrate the 200th chapter of the series, Rakuten launched a promotional campaign featuring – among other things – an exclusive set of variant covers available only through pre-order.

The pre-order window was limited and varied depending on the character. Starting on March 31, the schedule went as follows:

  • BAJI: until May 31st (2 months)
  • PAH-CHIN: until May 31st (2 months)
  • TAKEMICHI: until May 31st (2 months)
  • KAZUTORA: until May 31st (2 months)
  • MITSUYA: until August 31st (5 months)
  • CHIFUYU: until August 31st (5 months)
  • DRAKEN: until August 31st (5 months)
  • MIKEY: until September 30th (6 months)

Naturally, the covers with the shorter time frame became the rarest. Among these, two covers rose to infamy above all others: crybaby Takemichi and chubby Pah-chin. Neither of these characters were particularly popular, so their covers saw little demand during the campaign. Ironically, or maybe as some sort of twisted poetic justice, they ended up becoming the rarest and most wanted after the pre-order window closed.

What a masterpiece of a set!

Aesthetically, it’s stunning; the colors practically jump out at you, the gradients are buttery smooth, and the attention to detail is nothing short of insane. But it’s not just about the looks. This set perfectly captures the series’ vibe: unapologetically edgy with a touch of flashy swagger.

The involvement of a creative agency brought in specifically to design and execute this set is obvious from a mile away. We’re talking about Beeworks, a Japanese agency specializing in entertainment, which also happened to work on another stunning mini-set

A true fashion runway in the variant world!
